Dining Around with Gene Burns - Saturdays, 10 a.m to 1 p.m. on KGO Radio, AM 810

Trying to find the Julia's Castle Restaurant in San Francisco it was up and near Filbert Street at the top of the stairs.

If it is closed then we are looking for a special place to have a 90th Birthday Lunch on a Wednesday, June 9th.  We are a hiking group and one of our members will be celebrating her 90th.  She can still get out and walk a good 2 1/2 mile hike.  We thought of The Waterfront Cafe and the Top of the Mark, we also thought about the Hornblower, but they do not have a trip on a Wed.

Anyone think of someplace special with a view, we will be coming over on the Ferry from Marin. Some will walk others will take a cab to the location.

Also thinking of maybe Sonoma or Napa, any suggestions.

Thanks
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Congrats on the member of your hiking group turning 90! That's amazing and should definately be celebrated with a wonderful meal. I went to Julia's Castle a few years ago for dinner and it was nice. Not sure if it's still open. You can always call information or check online. I would suggest Scomas(amazing seafood) or The Cliff House if you want a place with a view. I believe both are open for lunch and both have websites. There is also the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, which has opened a brand new restaurant and has some of the most amazing views I have ever seen. The hotel is also quite beautiful to explore as well. Hope this helps and have a wonderful time!

Thanks Bonnie for the good suggestions. Claremont sounds good, we are also thinking of taking the Hornblower lunch cruise of the bay, they will be up and running on Wed. in May.

Unfortunately Julius Castle is not open anymore

Try Kokkari - no view but amazing greek food and great fun atmosphere. It relatively close to Coit Tower area.
